Weekend Excursion: "Ice-skating in Guo Mao"

On Saturday, November 9th, World Link students went to the China’s famous World Trade Center for ice-skating. The ice-skating ring has two stories. We all seemed skilful at skating , especially Kenneth, our gentleman on the ice!

World Link Activity: "Jiao Zi Workshop"

November, 24th, Sunday evening, World Link students learned to make the famous Chinese cuisine-Jiaozi-all by themselves! Jiaozi is the traditional Chinese cuisine in Northern China. Since it sounds like the phrase "transforming of a new year," Chinese people regard eating jiaozi as an essential part of celebrating the Chinese New Year. This time, under the instruction of the assistants, the students got to make the Jiaozi from scratch and then sample their work as well.

Farewell Dinner

On Nov 29th, the 12-week students were taken to a famous Xinjiang restaurant-A Fun Ti-for their farewell dinner. A Fun Ti is famous for its special Xinjiang style food and performances going through the dinner. The special minority dancing, fun games, lottery, and even Chinese Kong Fu performance made the atmosphere more and more heated?after the dinner was the part that is always most fun for the guests-dancing on the table!

China Business Field Trip: "Visit to AMECO"

On Friday, November 1st, World Link business students visited AMECO, the first and largest joint venture to offer aero-engineering services in the Chinese aviation industry. AMECO is a joint venture between Air China and Lufthansa, located at Beijing Capital Airport since May 2nd, 1989.

The main business of AMECO is to perform maintenance, repair and overhaul of an aircraft's frame, engine, and components. It also offers engineering support, training services, and material supply. We were given demonstration of the maintanence procedures carried out using the example of a which included watching a Boeing 777!

China Business Field Trip: "Visit to Sammie's"

On Wednesday, Nov 13th, World Link business students went to Sammie's Central Kitchen for their business trip. Sammie's provides food services for meetings, presentations, picnics, staff morale boosters, gift packs and travel packs. Sammie's began with a cafe in 1997 at the Beijing Language and Culture University. Today it has 3 cafés and two small stands in Beijing. The entrepreneur who started this business 4 years ago, Sam Goodman shared his experiences of doing business in China starting withhow he began the business, the difficulties he encountered and its success today.

China Business Seminar: "Scandinavian Furniture"

On Nov 22nd, World Link students visited Scandinavian Furniture to attend their last Seminar of the business program. Scandinavian Furniture was established in 1993 as a Swedish wholly-owned company in Beijing, with the aim of providing high quality office and residential furniture for the Chinese market. They work with in-house local as well as Scandinavian designers to provide their customers with the best office environment. They provide a complete interior design concept based upon customer needs and their individual budgets. Scandinavian Furniture’s production technology, know-how and carefully selected materials make it possible to produce top quality Scandinavian furniture in China.
